I thought Benkert's Dimes playbook had not a lot of plays in it...or did they change it?

But yes you can win a game playing normally without a theme team as long as EA doesn't feel like screwing you over.

They added a lot more plays with the latest patch

I use the steelers playbook on 50/50 steelers them team even tho half my team never played for us lol but I run the ball heavy thru out the game from single back then mix in Shotgun bunch x nasty or trips TE pretty basic , ima champion ranked player every season and compete pretty well overall in the madden online h2h modes

they added just about every bunch x nasty and bunch TE play into the playbook, makes it better than it was

Honestly, most people can't win without the "cheats" to be "good". I lose more then I win RN. But I will never run a glitch play.  I will win more then I lose around March. Most of the "good" players are gone by then.

As a number of people here have told me, Madden is a football-themed video game, not a true football simulation. Consequently, football IQ and football tactics mean far less than knowing the glitches, being aware of the obvious violations of physics, and understanding how users can unrealistically manipulate human physiology to cover far more ground with a user than they should be able to.

Being "good" means not playing Madden like it's a football game.

It really, really hurts to say this more than 35 years after playing John Madden Football on the Commodore 64. I used to be an apologist for EA, but not anymore after decades of incremental advancement that hasn't at all kept pace with what modern computing technology is capable of with regard to artificial intelligence, logic, and physics calculations.

This is the answer. It’s a video game meaning those who are achieving high success are exploiting the shortcomings/“glitches” in how the game is programmed. Artificial speed boosts, instances where positions will consistently breakdown/miss their assignments etc. As a fellow “unc” that’s been playing since the beginning, it’s always been a GAME and “real football IQ” doesn’t translate to success vs the aforementioned.

YouTube meta bs gets rewarded heavily in madden. It’s sad, but this stupid game doesn’t reflect real football at all. Just played the biggest bum I’ve ever played in all my years of madden. Came out in quad wr formation every play then audibles into a different formation to mess my defense up since madden is so trash. I also audible, doesn’t really matter since my guys still line up way off to the side for no reason at all. He just runs and throws into flats repeatedly. Kept the ball the entire second half. I got it with under a minute left and no timeouts. F this game.
