Crystal Scam?

With yet another upgraded Saquon card potentially on the way with the new promo coming, I imagine this means that everyone who shelled out coin for the Crystal version... and worse, those that paid cash money for it, is probably screwed, right? Same with any future Parsons and Surtain cards. EA has in the past transferred some of those chems over.... a recent example being last year's pricey Emmitt Super Bowl card's special chems transferring over to his season pass card. 

Y'all think EA will show the same foresight? (I doubt it). If not, that I would hope would detract people from investing cash into these scams.

What did you think, that they wouldn't release another version of these players the rest of the season?  The only screw job would be to have the Crystals lose their boosts.  Time will tell.

they can do one of three things here…

1) give the new saqoun card crystal boosts

2) give the new saqoun card an upgrade path requiring you to insert crystal variant

3) do no boosts for the new card and make you pick which one you’d rather use

2) sounds like the best option for everybody.  They sell more packs and the Community doesn't rage on them.

only issue with 2 is the access of his current card is extremely limited. he is only in packs so he is pretty rare, if they went this route i wouldn’t be shocked if he was included in an early step with the new crystal offers. a choice between him or parsons in the step 2 or 3 pack before the new crystals

Agreed. This would be the approach they took with the Emmitt Super Bowl card last year so at least there's precedent. If I were a betting man, I'd bet they go door number 3 and screw everyone.

Well if they don’t give the new Saquon the boosts I’ll just have to pick up Gibbs. I’d prefer the new Saquon obviously since he actually plays for the Eagles and because he’ll 100% be cheaper.

I have no issue with a permanent RB3, CB5 and LEDG2 all year. Just won’t use Saquon /Surtain/Parsons. Small price to pay for +1 speed…

They’ll most likely do #3, no chance they give him Crystal chem and I doubt they’ll make an upgrade path even if it would be nice

At this rate Saquon will end with one card for every rating

I mostly agree with this and already came to terms with it early in the year, but running a Broncos TT it would make me sad I couldn't  upgrade PS2 any longer.

Problem is, these are  3 of the biggest names in the game....many people are passionate about their teams players and not being able to upgrade them for 9 mo's is a real issue.  EA's got Saquon on the cover, he's got to be valuable.  They'll give him a crystal boost to sell packs.

i mean i sold my saquon today. I’m running the risk of options 1 or 2 from my comment, if I’m wrong i’ll just buy him back. if I’m right on option 1, save myself a lot of coins

NGL, I hope the new card has no crystal boost attainable bc I have zero plans to use Saquon and prefer him as a backup strategy card lol.

I think there is an almost 0 chance the new card has baked in crystal ability.  I think it is 90% likely the new card has no crystal boost attainable and 10% chance of it being an upgrade path to insert the crystal saquon.  i think the reason for it being unlikely is that the crystal upgrade would also come with any team chem and i don't think they want to start doing that.

if the new saquon has any team chem and crystal as an upgrade, it will be an insanely high priced card and will drive up 86s to insane #s.
