You aren't talking about the same token. You are talking about the Silver tokens, those are fine to sell. Those are just used to play Solo Champs Medium or Hard.
The solo Champ Tokens he is talking about are from The Run and The League. Every week you can get 4 from both, so a total of 8. After 32 tokens you can redeem them for a Solo Champ. Last season you could get Travis Hunter, Justin Fields, Evan Ingram, ETC. Its a Random 10 champs that you can choose from.

yeah but that’s bc no 88s were a thing when we redeemed it it says champions and cd / roquan are champions

Yeah, not the best decision. The player packs are pretty decent in terms of choice, especially if you wait towards the end of each season.
