Defense help ?

So there it ton of videos to stop the pass and how to do the adjustments.

I can stop the pass easily

However….

It seems the only teams i lose to are people that Spam these cheesy run plays.

They line up in what looks like a I formation but it’s actually gun with 5 wr and they do hurry up offense and just spam

Just lost to somebody doing this with okoye

my defense is a 86 overall with a ton of run stoppers

I have tried everything… cover 4…. Show blitz….cover 3…..cover 1…..3-4…..4-3

Nothing works and then when i start all out blitzing they throw it

Help ???

This may come off as a joke...but...what I do is pick Coach Suggestion and control whoever the fifth click lands me on (normally the MLB / SLB). I tend to pick the middle of the three suggestions on the first page (so it could be man or zone). Again...I know this sounds like a joke, but...I have had far more success doing this then trying to "counter" whatever my opponent is doing. It also takes all the pressure off me and puts it directly on the defensive coordinator...if it don't work...I fire the DC...grab some cheap low golds...and build me another DC (PB) (4-6 PB is the one I have had the most success from with this technique).

Bro what ? Coach suggestions is literally just a AI software that usually doesn’t correlate at all to what is happening.

You ain't wrong...but I learned years ago to not only realize my limitations, but to operate and have fun within those limitations. Making adjustments and playing chess with my opponent is something I'm not good at and have no desire to get good at. I see myself as the GM...I build the best team I can and then...let EA figure it out.

Against players like that you have to force them to pass without sending the house at them. Ever since I learned Drini's run defense years ago, it's my go-to against run-first players. He was stopping the run out of Dollar but you can do it out of any odd front like 33 Odd or 34 Odd. It's obviously way easier to show it in a video, but I'll do my best to describe it:

Right now I'm doing it out of 33 Odd and while you can do it out of any play, I like Cover 4 Drop so that my safeties are in the run fits. I put my coach settings for safety depth and width to close and pinch to get my safeties in better position to help out as well.

For the actual setup:

Pinch defensive line
Crash defensive line down (slant inside)
User one of the linebackers and hover directly behind the DT
Follow the run if it's a stretch and you'll have a clean path at the ball carrier because the OL pinches in to block the defensive linemen.
If it's an interior run, the combination of the defensive line and safeties in position to help usually do a good job.
