I thought I read somewhere that traits are not used in MUT, but I cannot find where I saw that. Is it true? I noticed that the description on El Toro suggests that you use it on players with "uses bull rush" trait, so I now think maybe I misunderstood. Anyone have any ideas of the state of affairs with traits in MUT?

Player traits are SUPER important in MUT. It's not that they are not "used" in MUT, unless something has seriously changed -- but this is EA after all, so i think it's safe to assume we're all still playing the same game.
The issue is that this wonderful website (MUTgg) no longer lists the specific Player Traits on cards, as they used to in the past. For example, being able to see which pass rushers are Power (Bull Rush) versus Finesse (Spin/Swim) is super important. We're mostly left to assume, based on prior years.
To use a specific example, from M25, here is Hasason Reddick and the full compliment of Player Traits listed: https://www.mut.gg/players/12560-haason-reddick/25-45009206/ -- sadly, we're not getting this type of info, unsure how or why. Finesse pass rushers typically excel this early in the year, as the majority of O-line play is weak regarding PBF stat. Hopefully someone else can chime in with specific information, i'm mostly basing things off of historical context and am unsure of the discrepancy for M26 info.
- Running Style = Default Stride Loose
- Big Hitter = No
- High Motor = Yes
- Pass Rush Bull Rush Move = No
- Pass Rush Spin Move = Yes
- Pass Rush Swim Move = Yes
- Penalty = Disciplined
- Strips Ball = Yes

I’m pretty sure EA said that traits don’t matter this year

Alright, i stand corrected. Sounds SUS, but thank you for the info. I managed to dig up the following, but does anyone think that EA was able to successfully execute on these changes? Sure it says the ai is supposed to behave in specific manners, but i've never know EA to be able to pull off even a simple stamina patch, let alone major gameplay enhancements.

It would be cool if someone could test all of these, I highly doubt that any of them do anything though
I know they reworked the traits and it isn't a simple yes/no for Bull/Spin/Swim like it used to be. Now players have traits like "Bruiser", which means they prefer bull rush moves (just an example - don't quote me on it). And some guys have more than one. I think you can see these traits in Franchise and maybe even adjust them. The issue is that maybe they don't apply to MUT. But, if they don't apply, does that mean Vita Vea will spin as much as he bull rushes, and maybe it's just totally random?
It mostly was used for CPU controlled anyway
Yeah, that's the stuff, Peatrick. Any idea who has what or do they not have any in MUT?
EpicDude28 said:It would be cool if someone could test all of these, I highly doubt that any of them do anything though
This feels liek stuff for offline play, or Franchise mode, maybe... they just slap a generic "aritificial intelligence" onto whatever they're attempting and call it a day. I'm calling SUS, until proven otherwise.
EA claims they do a lot of things, or has a habit of slapping some marketing speak on their lack of effort, or in lieu of meaningful game updates or modern changes. Probably one of those things that's damn near impossible to test from a user-perspective. Someone would probably need to be on the PC version of the game and farming for in-game info.
My finesse pass rushers (DeForest Buckner) are WAY more impressive than my power rushers (Javon Kinlaw). Appreciate all the information and thought experiments. Looking forward to the patch tomorrow.
I saw a streamer (maybe Guttfoxx?) who recorded gameplay and the zoomed in on the replay and "gas guzzler" would appear next to the player at the start of the play and then other stuff popped up as they were making rush moves. I just don't know if that was MUT gameplay...

They definitely work in game.
Only CPU controlled players activate them. Turn on "traits feedback" in ultimate team settings and look for yourself.
Cards with the traits play much better. Gas guzzler and twister on d line seem to work great together. Anyone else seen any d linemen that have gas guzzler?
Thanks man! Didn't even see that toggle switch before.
Zan made a idea on this. They matter. They just aren’t viewed or accessible as easy as they use to be to find out wtf players have as traits

the only person in the game with that parsons, chase young has bouncer and twister but i don't think he has gas guzzler playing on the line.
which is about accurate for chase young.
