Weekly spotlight tokens are different from season tokens.
The way I'm reading this is weekly spotlight tokens carry over and we will be able to use them in weekly promo sets, legends, totw and currently signature but we will get a new weekly promo with s2 that they want to spotlight.
For season tokens, there will be new season 2 tokens earned that have their own new sets but the season 1 sets will remain that take the s1 tokens. It is not clear if s1 tokens can be used in s2 sets but the wording makes it seem not likely.

I think they put multiple info in one post and it gets confusing because people dont know what the different between weekly tokens and season tokens and events passes and weekly passes

That's not the case. The tweet from EA actually says the opposite from the op thread title.

The season tokens are the ones for the season events in the pass, like the Gametime event if you get the S1 exchange token for a champion, or the 32x season tokens for a BND Champion that you get from CPU seasons/The Run.

What you are saying is very clear and makes sense. It's also what I was hoping would happen. I used my 32 Season tokens in the set and pulled the card I wanted (Team Builder Bowers). I have not used ANY weekly spotlight tokens (currently at 65) and was hoping those could be used for free Legend, TOTW, or Collector's Series cards when they finally release something that I actually want/need for my TT.

So my understanding is, even though we'll be earning season 2 tokens, we'll still be able to use them in the season 1 set in case we're short. Meaning EA is calling them season 1 and season 2 tokens because that's the corresponding season to each but in actuality, they're just season tokens, thus can be used in any season set.
