The point of playing a video game is to enjoy it.
In my opinion, both sides of MS/NMS do not enjoy the game at all once they have become extremists in either category. If you spent thousands of dollars this month I can guarantee you there is no reward worth that amount. And the same goes to someone who spent hundreds of hours trying to keep up with the money spenders all whilst claiming to be more true than the money spenders. Guess what, you also lost the enjoyment in the game because of your obsession with staying “competitive” when the rewards for doing so only allow you to chase that constant state of competitiveness and nothing else. Winning a match gives you nothing of value. Stacking coins is useless. The whole point is to enjoy your time playing and this is often overshadowed by new releases and objectives. But I digress.
It is rather disgusting the way it is set up, where EA has convinced users that they “need” the updated cards throughout the season. For example, I like John Elway. I can buy his 77 ovr card and put it on my team for a measly amount of coins. Then I get the novelty of using one of my favorite players, despite it being a nameplate on a virtual character which barely matches his likeness. But his 85 ovr card throws better passes and runs faster. So I’m forced to cough up 200k coins. How I get these coins is up to me. And it is nearly impossible to enjoy this journey without sacrificing money or time, as it is in no way “fun” to “earn” this content and the reward of receiving it often does not result in a positive emotion.
ok… Back to one sentence replies for me 😅
