How to mute players

Probably a dumb question but can I mute someone before I even join. Tired of forgetting to and people saying very colorful sentences with my kids in the room. And most of the time I end up beating them and I feel like justice was served lok

There is probably a way in game, but I know on Xbox you just put yourself into your own Xbox party and there will be no game chat

for real man. had some kid call me a r*tard about 30 times last night for no reason at all my mic wasn’t even on. bro was getting mad cause he was getting locked up my a NMS team

create a private party in the console.  i believe XBOX has it but it is what i do on the playstation.

Turn off chat in settings. I turned it off years ago and haven’t had to listen to those turds for years.
