If you run a pure theme team they are pretty nice to have...and if you have a ton of coin anyway then you might as well do it because it's not like you can carry it over anyway.

I get that. I'm getting Ashton Jeanty and that's probably it. I've got a low amount of coins. He's stressing the amount, that's why I told him not to worry. 3 million won't be enough for all RP's. Just get the one/one's you really want.

I have better luck flipping LTDs I either have doubles of, don’t care to keep, or bought on speculation specifically to flip.

It does not from old gen to new gen nothing crosses over trust me I started 25 on ps4 had all the high ltds when the Amon rah sun god came out tried to transfer over to ps5 EA said sorry that’s a no go

There's a lot of good stuff in this response.
You need to be able to spend time on the Auction House to sell and buy back, and you need to have a strong read on the market. If you have both, you'll make coins in any kind of market.
I can progress with little effort in most Solo modes, so I don't need many high-value players, if any. Early-year Ultimate Solo Seasons and Epic Challenges were remarkable exceptions, but if you bang your head on the wall enough times, you'll eventually break through with even a weaker lineup.
I've already seen that I tend to play Head-to-Head during specific periods during the week. Why bother to keep high-value players in my lineup outside those times? I can sell most of them at 20% more than what they'll be by the time I return to Head-to-Head, so with certain critical players as limited exceptions, I can sell and buy back with little headache.
The biggest crimes against my coinstack were committed trying to persistently maintain the speediest theme team. If the value in doing so is as incremental as it was for most of MUT 25, you spend a lot of coins on the equivalent of trading in your 2024 ride for the 2026 iteration of the same thing.
Going into MUT 26, I will maintain two lineups. One will be the "budget beast", a combination of BND's and speedier low-value players that will incrementally improve over time without any significant impact on my coinstack. The other will be whatever relevant mix of players I need to achieve whatever attainable goals exist in a head-to-head environment.
Some final notes:
Flipping LTD's has been money for me this year, but All-Star Athletes was definitely my most enduring coinmaker.
