When you have vanguard do you still need nasty streak, post up or honorary lineman?

I think you need them as well. Vanguard only gives pancakes.

Thanks, it's hard to figure that out when it just says pretty much dominant blocking like the others so I was thinking like how universal coverage is all the KOs this would be like that

No problem. It sure would be nice if EA actually said what each ability does rather than the community having to lab and figure out what these abilities mean ourselves. Ah well. Good luck!

I can't speak as an authority on this, but I remember there being some controversy as to how Honorary Lineman stacks on top of Vanguard. The observation centered on the idea that Honorary Lineman didn't have the degree of impact block domination that Vanguard had, and that Honorary Lineman would trigger instead of Vanguard on certain interactions.

It is frustrating to have so many open questions about abilities and their capacity to stack or not, or even to undercut one another.

Honorary lineman gives you impact block wins vs DBs and nasty streak gives you impact block wins vs DBs and linebackers. Vanguard gives you dominant impact block wins vs everyone. So If you have vanguard on your player, honorary lineman and nasty streak are not necessary because vanguard is just the better version of those two abilities.

Post up is completely different and you should still be running that ability at least on both of your guards. It counters colossus in double teams.

Hit the nail on the head.

Thank you for providing the community with such a well-written, clear and concise response.  This is basically how i have been operating, as well.  I've taken Nasty Streak off my linemen with Vanguard (which at this point is all of them, because why not).

Almost everyone can and potentially should consider the following; Alan Faneca 0AP, Quenton Nelson (Combine 97 OVR) 2AP / 0AP for GT variant), Dwight Stephenson 1AP & Kyle Long 2AP... the OTs are still kind of pricey, but Alan Faneca has been prime / healthy Trent Williams for me, he's top notch left tackle and works great OOP.  No issues with the smaller player models either, weight does not seem to have a significant impact on blocking calculations this year, which feels very different from M24 cycle, where it was 300+ pounds or bust for O-line.

But i'm old and forgetful, so i could be misremembering things.  However, Nasty Streak (or even Honorary Lineman) feels redundant with Vanguard, no need to stack, IMO.  Thank you again for the great insight.

Glad to be of help! I have had Dwight Stephenson and Mike Munchak on the line for a long time and they have performed just as well as any larger lineman, no issues with smaller player models over here either.
