Does Vanguard handle everything in the run game? I know it has dominate blocks downfield, but can it get insta shed at the line of scrimmage on run plays (like inside stuff or no outsiders). Or do you need to couple it with secure protector?

You need Secure Protector. Vanguard does nothing with sheds.
It's only impact blocks so you need space to activate it
