First off let just say I’m not an expert but I’m not terrible. Lately I’ve been getting destroyed by these receivers that are wide open deep no matter what play I run. I mean a third of the time I pick them off. Tried various CB’s and Safeties. I currently have Peterson, Charles Woodson and either Hunter or Mitchell. So I don’t have terrible players.
Usually if i recognize that streak is getting wide past my zones i man that guy with the nickel or the deep blue out
Match coverage will sometimes let up deep balls (but can be really good if used properly) depending on route combos. Shading down will sometimes let streaks up, especially if you press. A lot of coverages can be bombed with certain route combos. Your best zone play for defending steaks is cover 4 imo. Check if match is on and look at the routes and what they do to your zones. Making adjustments is really useful if you know your opponents tendencies. Changing zones/manning up players can seem intimidating but if you go on practice mode and learn how to do it quickly your defense will greatly improve.
