Receivers Changing Their Routes

I've been noticing recently that my receivers will sometimes, usually right when I start to throw to them, decide to run straight up field instead of continuing the route they're supposed to run. I see an open receiver on a drag/slant, or when I'm rolling out on a play action pass, and as soon as I throw it they run straight up the middle of the field which is then where the pass ends up going and they either get leveled by a LB or Safety and drop the ball or it gets intercepted. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't know if it's something wrong with the game or if it's something that can be fixed in the settings... either way it's very annoying.

Are you ruching your right stuck at all?   That will playmaker them into a different direction based on where you flick the right stick.

Example,  they are running a drag or slant but you flick the right stick up and the closest receiver to you will then move into a streak.
