I pulled 97 Jordan Mailata out of a pack and his stats crush those of a fully upgraded Joe Staley, even with 40/40 Niners chem and all the captain tokens. But is Staley still considered better because he now gets Secure Protector even if all of his numeric stats are worse?
Mailata gets run protector + pass protector for free which is the same as secure protector.
He also gets all day for free which will be better for stopping secondary pass rush moves (at least in theory). I would stick with Mailata unless you’re just needing the coins.

Theyre not the same because it's dictated by your play calling. Secure Protector is an absolute must at this point

I am going by what Zan has stated...that those 2 abilities make up secure protector. He is usually spot on w/ what he talks about
I am also unsure how those abilities are effected by play calling? What do you mean?

Secure protector is a combined Pass Protector and Run Protector.
All toty OL get Pass protector and Run protector combined for 0 AP. Nobody gets secure protector for 0.
If you never run, then yes run protector would be useless...

Uhhh, I believe this information to be accurate. The combination of Run Protector + Pass Protector = Secure Protector.
Obviously Run Pro only activates (or has a chance to trigger) on run plays, etc. In a perfect world, our entire O-line would have the combination of Secure Protector + All Day.
- Secure Pro - (or Run/Pass equivalent) helps to prevent the superwins (insta-sheds) off the snap
- All Day - helps to counter the repeated / frequent shed attempts
These abilities should directly counter all the Unstoppable Force, Double or Nothing type pass rush abilities.
It's a passing league after all, so I've been using the combo of Pass Pro + All Day (x5) across my entire OL.

All day is 50% of secure protector. The difference between run/pass protector specific to secure protector is resistence points, based on playcalling. So the perfect lineman wants secure protector, tough nuts, natural talent, and even matador.

The concept of resistance points is rarely ever talked about. It's all good. I'm run heavy so it goes both ways

Secure Pro has All Day component built-in? I've been legit wondering this for a minute, but could never get a clear answer, so I've assumed it's simply Run Pro + Pass Pro only, nothing to prevent frequent shed attempts.
Thanks for feedback. I only really consider blocking resistance from pass rush side, try to use Unpredictable whenever it's available for 0AP, but rarely prioritize Natural Talent, etc.
Super interesting.

In my thought process, SP is all 3 in 1, pass, run, all day. Good stuff all around.

- Secure Protector: Blockers with this ability reduce a rusher's chances of using a quick block shed move.
- Edge Protector: Blockers with this ability reduce an edge pass rusher's chances of using a quick block shed move.
- Pass Protector: Blockers with this ability reduce a rusher's chances of using a quick block shed move while pass blocking.
- All Day: Blockers with this ability will allow less frequent shed attempts by their block target.
Top three are essentially the same thing, with slight variations based on position, or run versus pass, etc. I used to assume that SecurePro had the All Day component built-in, but as of M2025, I am no longer certain. For now, it doesn't really matter, as I'm running all PassPro, but as we get more and more Secure available, inquiring minds want to know. 💪. Genuinely appreciate your input and shared expertise. EA cannot seem to communicate even the basics about how their game operates (or doesn't). Oof.

Yeah SP is the best since it combines positions and abilities.

I stopped reading at the top 3 are essentially the same thing. Very false. Edge protector is for edge threat, in which we newly learned edge threat can activate against a guard. Pass specific. Pass protection is secure protector, pass specific. Secure Protector again in my thoughts combines the 3 for obvious reasons. If we wanna get Uber specific, my running maxed Staley, long, maxed Saturday, maxed shields, Cam J with SP, as my oline. I'm not top 100, but I'm champions Tier, one of the best rushers you'll find. All good all around tho

Agreed.
