Geno is a RAIDERRRRR and only for a 3rd Rnd pick (92nd overall) is a STEAL & REALLY GOOD UPGRADE for HC Pete/GM Spytek/Part Owner Brady 1st big roster move at the all important QB position for the Raiders (bye bye Minchew!) O'Connell remains a cheap capable backup, which is always what he was my delusional % of Raiderfandumb that thought he was ever gonna be a bonafide playoff caliber QB, he's still on his rookie deal.
I know they tried hard for Stafford too, but Geno has less wear & tear than vet Matt, also Seahawks OC former UW Husky OC Ben Grubb struggled (he was fired by HC McDonald), and the Raiders have a far more solid oline than Seattle's 2024 group.
*PLUS this gives the Raiders massive flexibility this '25 draft: if QB Sanders drops (rumors are floating his stock is dropping) to #6 they can do what the Falcons did doubling down at QB via a veteran (Kirk) AND drafting a incoming QB (grrrrr I still wanted Micheal Penix Jr to be a Raider that '24 draft as both a longtime Raider & UW Husky fan)...plus I would take big armed more mobile Geno over 2025 Kirk Cousins 1000%.
Or they could go BPA at #6, worked pretty well from One & Done GM/HC Telesco & Pierce choosing AllPro Rookie TE Brock Bowers at #13 overall last year - yeah Ashton Jeanty is the obvious BPA and fits a need for Raiders Offense upgraded RB room, but this is a DEEEEEP RB Draft class, I know Pete loves Trenches/Dline being stacked to help pass coverage.
Or they could go WR at #6 overall with the Drake London/Mike Evans-ish Tetaroia McMillen from Arizona to join the Raider WR/TE room of great Bowers, solid vet Jakobi Myers, still very young Micheal Mayer and fast slot Tre Tucker. Tetaroia plus Bowers being a "joker" offensive move all over for new OC Chip Kelly.
Kelly & Pete can then target shifty speedburner/good hands receiver RB in OSU's Treyveon Henderson in the high 2nd round, maybe take Judkins if available in the 3rd as Raiders still have the DaVante Adams 3rd rounder from the Jets after the Geno trade.
Welcome to the RaiderNation Geno Smith!! Gonna be a fun Raider Offense in 2025 methinks :)
