I suspect those SB pack offers have expired, or otherwise timed out, which is why you are no longer able to continue the purchases. Just my two cents... i'll check this evening to see if I'm able to see any of those.

Every new market with lots of $$ explodes with exploitation until eventually legislation is made to reel it in. Either brought on by people with a cause or more often some horrible example of that exploitation becoming a rallying call. Ultimately it is often government bureaucrats making decisions on topics they nothing about or being heavily “influenced” by lobbyists. At least with the trial by fire approach we can identify the real issues before making arbitrary rules and regulations. Let’s skip the political implications though. Just talking how it impacts this and in reality either party could grab and try to use it for their purposes. Maybe we should be writing our congressional representatives to revisit/amend the UIGEA and the Wire Act. I’m not a lawyer but apparently several of you are. Maybe our state gaming commissions?

Another example is the now very lucrative NIL world of college and high school athletics. Smart kids will kid rich but some not so bright ones will be widely taken advantage. In my opinion it’s already there and with gambling in sports. Leagues and franchises move over the era of the individual brand is here.
There may even be some repercussions for the egregious offenders in both in game gambling and probably more likely NIL in what are now formerly amateur leagues but all in all it will pale in comparison to $$ they made.
edit:I should add some of those kids are not stupid just maybe naive or at least have not yet learned to have a healthy skepticism. Also addiction is obviously a factor with gambling. I didn’t go into that.

EA knows what they are doing, which is why they term these things "fun little surprises" and NEVER refer to them as playing cards (which has innate gambling connotations). This shit should not be allowed.
Pay to win has absolutely zero business being part of online H2H competitive games. Sell us uniform packs or an endless array of cosmetic items (thinking Fortnite style) but nothing that gives an actual in-game advantage. Sadly, we're just pissing into the wind at this point. We should start hearing rumors or leaks about the potential for contract extension. If EA secures another ~decade of exclusivity, it's almost certainly time for me to tap out. It'll continue getting worse before it gets any better. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong here. Thanks for the great, well-written post, as always. The scary thing to me is that people are actually buying these step up offers. EA probably put them out and said "lol let's see who is crazy enough to buy these" and they actually got people to bite on it. It's insanity and there is a difference between addiction and pure insanity. We are headed into March, MUT is more than halfway over. There is no need to spend on anything more than the season pass.

EA must have 10-20+ years of data, they know exactly who they are selling to and when the proper time is to pounce. They didn't accidentally discover they're running an unregulated casino for children, they've been to court to insist these are just "fun little surprises" and definitely not anything resembling cards (which implies gambling). It's really quite nefarious. Get kids hooked from a young age, then pluck out the small percentage of people that spend the majority of the cash.

Underage gambling is illegal, but EA hasn’t been fully called out for it on that kind of scale. On any case I can’t make your decisions for you, but illegal or not, don’t give your money to EA.
I went to EA awhile ago about their 1 Coin Offer in the Store and they told me to kick rocks.
