Is there a catch rating threshold for not needed pick artist on a safety? I know pick artist is an insane ability but I mean a threshold so they will animate or catch it more frequently. I heard anything under 80 catch means more drops.
You need it no matter what - pretty sure catch rating hardly matters at all.

Stats barely matter -- then again, Pick Artist and LurkArtist are NOT what they once were. Even with those abilities on most (if not ALL) of my DBs (and linebackers whenever possible) i'm still seeing my defenders drop wide open picks, or refuse to animate or swat at the ball.
I would encourage most everyone to consider Mid Zone KO, before Pick (or Lurk) Artist. The improved reaction time is superior to the actual knock-out component of these abilities. If our defenders aren't in position to make a play on the ball, no amount of catching stats or abilities will matter in the end. Just my two cents.

Agreed, I’ve incorporated this guidance into my process with great outcomes 👌👌

one or two Zone KOs aren't super impactful, but once you get 6 (or more), the game begins to change and defense seems at least possible... glad to hear i'm not just blowing hot air, i have a tendency to hype things up a bit too much, from time to time. However, this is super impactful, IMO.
Thank you all for the input, I will stick with the Zone KO's

Yeah, this is the route I’ve gone. I’ve accumulated six cornerbacks, safeties, and linebackers with 1 AP Mid-Zone KO, along with Universal Coverage on Deion Sanders. For pressure, I blitz cornerbacks occasionally. I don’t have much AP left for other abilities, and I do get hit over the top at a comparatively maddening rate (and I believe that would be so even with Deep-Zone KO). But this is the best my defense has been.

Yep my priorities go
1. all dbs with ko for their cover 3 responsibility
2. lurk artist for sublbs
3. double or nothing for des and at least 1 dt

What type of coverage do you typically play? I managed to be a bit ahead of the curve, using all the Zero Chill DBs to achieve what you described above (MZKO everywhere on the field, plus Deion's 3AP Universal Coverage). I could give up Reggie's 2AP Unstoppable Force and put those onto Ronnie and John Lynch in the form of Deep In Zone KO, but for now, i'm not really missing it. Both Cover 2 and Cover 3 seem to be begging to get burned deep this year -- for me, it's been basically Cover 4 or bust. Even then, dudes will still hit way more deep bomb / prayers than seems normal or appropriate. However, i'm no longer getting beat over the top, as most of my DBs now have 99 SPD, John Lynch being a notable exception, but he's awesome. Sadly, no 49ers team chems for active GM.

This is the way. Trying to teach more kids, but they're still running Pick Artist everywhere, over relevant KOs.
