Before the hate comes spilling in! My QB1 holds it Down. I’ve played with other QB’s but my luv for my Boys keep bringing me back to Dak. Must be the “here we go” Before the snap 🤷🏾♂️. But I want to know if I’m the only one. Who still use Dak?
Who still use Dak?
No offense, but even with a Cowboys TT, there's no way I can use a 91 OVR QB with no ability discounts if you're playing any H2H.
Yeah, the windows on non-cheat plays and non-cheat route combos have gotten tighter, and a three month-old Dak Prescott lacks the attributes to consistently throw passes that are both catchable despite KO abilities, and outside the reach of defenders increasingly able to warp time and space for interceptions.
Me because I run with the Cowboys TT and never play H2H so I don't worry too much about it being outdated against players
Plus I like when he says "yeah here we go" so there's that too lol

so what's the point of playing MUT if you never play H2H? Do you just admire your slum squad on the lineup tab?

I personally will never understand the appeal as well. At least not from a team building standpoint. A base gold squad will beat about any solo the game will throw at you.
I didn't play MUT H2H in M12 or M25, but did mess around a bit w/ UT in it's infancy, and really only had the desire to open packs w/ coins. Do a bit of grinding and you could open packs for hours on hours just dumping what you pulled. I still had no desire to "build a team" just to play the few solos it took to get more coins to be able to open more packs.
Saying all of that....I remember gametyme on the old MUTHead forums doing a poll (that had a good amount of votes, not just a handful) asking if the user base played online H2H in MUT. The VAST majority voted that they were offline players only.
I'm not sure if the forums just have a certain demographic, but I learned that a good chunk of the people I interacted w/ over there had no desire to play online. I would imagine that also holds true over here.
There must be SOME appeal to it, but again, I personally don't see it. To each their own though.

Hi, welcome... apologies if i haven't crossed paths with many of Dem Boyz in these forums. We all have our favorite players (I used Joe Montana way longer than was probably reasonable and now i'm on to Steve Young, despite the fact there are better QBs out there). However i would try to encourage folks to NOT be me, assuming you want to play competitively in any capacity. If yer just hanging out with yer friends and having fun grinding against the CPU or whatever to build your team, please ignore most everything i ramble about.
A few basic tips, to ensure we're on the same page:
- OVR rating is meaningless -- there were tons of 90 OVR cards during Zero Chill and MUTmas that played better than many/most 93-94s
- Stats barely matter, Abilities are everything
Okay, with that out of the way, the ultimate goal for ideal QB stack would be something along the lines of (in order of importance); Gunslinger, Gift-Wrapped, Master Tactician and then perhaps Set Feet Lead or Pass Lead Elite. However, QB Release style also matters quite a bit. Definitely not as much as in prior years, there aren't any truly terrible releases, but many of the modern QBs have those "realism" touches, such as Dak's little Here we go chant pre-snap. I'm sure that's fun the first few dozen times you experience it, but by the time you've thrown ten thousand passes with Dak, surely that has to get old, no?
More important than the annoyance factor would be the delays that these pre-snap animations or whatever can cause. For example, Matthew Stafford has one of the best pure QB Releases in the entire game, but his cards are essentially unusable, because of the insane delays trying to make any pre-snap adjustments. YMMV, but doubtful.
Hope you find something useful in here, but feel free to ignore whatever is not relevant to you. If yer having a ball with Dak as your signal caller, by all means, go for broke.
At the very least, ensure you have at least Gunslinger + Gift-Wrapped on him, then spend the rest of those other 4AP where ever your heart desires.

I have to assume my approach to Madden has been less than common, if based on nothing else beyond my advanced age. Been playing fatball video games since the late 80s or early 90s (Tecmo Bowl, NES Play Action Football, etc.), but went pure #PCMasterRace for decades, only to find my way back to console gaming after a lengthy break, mostly due to having a child.
At this point in my life i need to distinguish between good screen (meaning, my fatass plopped on the couch) versus bad screen (being stuck at my desk for wr0k), so i definitely understand the appeal of just wanting to relax and have a little mindless fun... but playing against the CPU gets old real fast, as you guys have so accurately pointed out. What's the point of team building if we can breeze through essentially all the offline Solo Challenges with a Day 1 NMS team. Not to mention the ability to field a competitive team has been vaporized as EA continually caters to the small percentage of players who spend 80+% of the funds on microtransactions. I truly wish this game were more accessible to a wide range of people, but the toxic, cheese-filled nature of this objectively not good game DEFINITELY scares a lot of folks off before they have even learned the basics, let alone have a chance at competing online.
After dabbling casually through end of M22, I finally stumbled into Ultimate Team around Christmas during M23 cycle. I initially set out on a quest to be able to actually compete in online H2H, which took me a couple/few months before I started to figure the game out. Without having access to this MUTgg community and all the folks who were so willing to teach me the game of Madden, i'd still be stuck and lost, thinking or assuming we were playing actual simulation fatball. It started to click when someone taught me that stats barely matter and abilities are everything. Then learning which abilities even work or resemble their in-game descriptions is another steep uphill climb for newer players.
This is all so frustrating. At the end of the day, i'm the asshole for wanting to take EA seriously. They're not a video game company, these are merely financial instruments designed to provide infinite growth, Madden/CFB, etc. are no different from selling a bottle of shampoo or whatever widgets, at least in their eyes. We're just a bunch of angry nerds raging on the internet, i'm not sure they could care less about any of our feedback. /sigh

I know right because it's not like there are challenges and solo battles right?
Personally I don't wanna play against the whales who spend hundreds per week to have 95-96 across the board and spam the same plays over and over

I don’t enjoy most of the games either but it’s the challenge of self improvement. It’s nice knowing you can compete with hundred dollar squads knowing you didn’t spend on your team or work the auction house for hours on end.

yah but your missing the point what's the point of doing challenges when you don't even use the rewards you get from them also I promise Ranked and Mut Champs wont kill you when you load them up

You're free to play how you want but i feel like you're not really getting the full experience of MUT if you just do challenges and solo battles/seasons. Playing against the CPU is one of the worst things ever for me. Online has all kinds of bullshit glitches and cheese but idk, at least you're not playing the boring CPU. Not sure how someone can grind for their team just to play against the CPU but to each their own.

You could. I spent most of my AP on Dak and the rest on my RB and 2 tackle. I’ve been top hundred every season since he’s been out. I throw way more TD’s than INTs. Some games i will say it does feel like the ball goes straight to the defense but I also feel like EA manipulates games at times as well. I win more than I lose all together, and more than 97% of the teams I play have better QB’s than me.

I have a GS, and QD on him. I had to get rid of GW to give a point to my edge tackle for EP. But even with those 2 He’s on point with most of his throws. There are games where it seems like the ball just goes straight to the defens, but when That happens i just run and throw drags or come backs to reduce my risk.

lol the “here we go“ is everything . Outdated is relativ. it’s all about ur strategy and abilities with this game. 60% of my team is outdated because most of them are Cowboys players.
