Unless you live under a rock or don’t follow basketball. the most surprising trade in NBA history and up there for one of the most surprising trades in sports in general just happened 2 days ago
I live in Maryland (not gonna say exactly where for obvious reasons :) so I’ve been kind of a ”bandwagon fan for NBA teams”
I started out being a warriors fan from 2016-2017, became a rockets fan from 2017-2019, when harden left and we were kinda ass I was looking around for a team to watch(im 9 at the time btw so I dont really care if im not rooting for a team in my area since i loved NFL way more then NBa at the time)
anyways I found the mavs, why? Because blue was my favorite color 💀(like I said im 9 at the time so)
I wasn’t a “big fan” until about 2 and a half years ago,
2022 WC semifinals, game 7, playing the best team in the west the suns, we beat them by around 40
next round we got shit on but I really felt a desire for a basketball team that I never had
Ok now im done yapping how I became a fan,
my reactions
From a fan standpoint, we traded away the Face of the franchise, 25 yrs old, in his prime, for a 31 almost 32 yr old who has a history of being injury prone? He was suppost to be like our dirk
our championship window shrunk by about 2/3’s from that trade
And we couldve gotten way more, the original offer was AD, reave, and multiple firsts, and the lakers GM was a genius and convinced Nico harrison(our GM) to make it more fair for them so we ended up just getting AD, max Christine, and one first round pick
dont get me wrong AD is a fantastic player, but for luka? Hell no
From a business standpoint, I can see why they wanted to trade him
I heard reports he’s up to 270 pounds and his super max contact was coming up and they were worried he wasn’t gonna sign back
Our defense got MUCH better, but not worth trading a potential top 10 player OAT in his prime
overall, it was fair for who won right now, but in the future lakers won by a landslide
