Starcraft was around for a decade and didn't get ruined. It was a balanced game, and only needed a few patches over the years to address some issues revealed by super-competitive players.

I literally didn't buy Starcraft II because Starcraft was a game I got genuinely addicted to, and I didn't want to go through that again. Years later, I'm writing a post about Starcraft on a MUT forum. Hmmm....
