Kicking is WAY different now
Update: I just figured out there are two kicking meters in Madden this year: (1) Multi Meter and (2) Classic Meter. Yeah, I’m an idiot but it was set to Classic all along and somehow changed to Multi Meter automatically. 😩
Not changed for me. I just hit x twice and it goes through the uprights every time.

Its def less reliable. Ive noticed it too. Just changed my abilities on st to get the slower kick meter after 45 yards, ive NEVER used that abiltity before. Always prioritize eitger full arc or immune to ice the kicker.
But being immune to icing the kicker is useless if your meter moves up at a normal stable speed then when you go to the accuracy coming back down, it ROCKETS down superfast. Been shanking easyish kicks last couple days. Didnt used to be like that.
What I mean is: now it starts with a meter that goes left to right and you have to hit it exactly in the center to start the kick straight. Before yesterday, it did not constantly start the left to right thing Before you kick. Am I the only one this has happened to?
I think when playing online reg it auto sets it to multi meter. It didnt give an option to change it besides pausing in game or setting it up before in the setting( I played in local tournament on 1 console and it was annoying)

What is with this, some legacy stuff, or a scenario where old habits die hard? I have a buddy who insists on running that "full kicking arc" nonsense, which feels liek a huge waste of AP. Being able to see where the ball goes isn't winning us games, but not being able to reliably hit 50+ yard FGs is absolutely costing us some close ones... especially in a buggy ass game filled with bursts of lag at the most inopportune time.
What advice can you give me, how do we help other long-time Madden players come a similar realization? How did you finally reach that (in my mind, correct) conclusion, that the 2AP for slow kicking meter on 45+ yard FGs is way more important than seeing where the ball might end up, if you time things properly. I'm SO sick of seeing that full kicking arc, only for the ball to wind up exactly where we don't want it to go. Oof.

I only use clutch kicker for 3 AP. it being so slow will mess me up, I've missed multiple PATs with the under 45 slow meter on. when Tucker had his 0 AP bucket I used it for clutch kicker and had the full kick arc for tucker and my punter. it was great on my punter for pinning them out of bounds and was great on my kicker too.
if you need the slow meter, use it. if not i recommend clutch kicker because it is so funny when i go to kick a game-winning FG and they try to ice me but it does nothing and I drill it from any distance.

I definitely understand the value from seeing full kick arc when it comes to punts, that has absolutely helped to pin people deep, even forced a safety, or two. I've got both, 1AP for punter arc, while spending 2AP for slow meter on 45+ yard FGs.
I don't really care if someone ices me, with slow meter I can reliably hit from long range, even while only seeing partial meter. Bounced one off crossbar from 66 recently, no wind. Have 99 KPW, seems ~64ish probably around my max distance. 62+ is 🍰

You're clearly more skilled than I am, this is how I dumb down the game for myself, by literally slowing it down. After 3 years of reps with slow kick meter, I'm spoiled.
