I’m free to play, and normally I get by just fine. I’m not a fan of the overall boosts and the insane amount of super meta cards in the promo this year. It feels like July but my team is stuck in January. I’m curious what others think of this promo? Perhaps it’s fun if you spend. But I dont like the idea of endgame coming before 2025 did.
Zero chill is always my favorite promo and this one was no different. I don't spend and am always able to participate.
When ZC started I was an 89 ovr, at final drop I'm a 94 ovr and only took a coin stack hit of 1.4M even though all my upgrades would have probably cost me around 12M or so.
You just had to play it right and minimize your cost of rolling all presents.
I am enjoying the gameplay more since it's back to catering to defensive play. People actually quit games now instead of sticking with it being down 21 points hoping they'll get lucky on offense.
It will be interesting to see how they handle 1/9 and whether or not we get some discounted abilities on these players.
the promo literally saved mut

This.
Got it, I’m not sweaty enough lol
Are you kidding? I love playing against David Njoku and George Kittle every single game. And everybody having a Sean Taylor has been really fun too! Just an all around blast wow wonder when George gets another card. It’s time

You rolled the dice on presents. After last year, some of us were hesitant to do so.
There's also the issue of 'getting in' on Zero Chill if you didn't have a significant coin stack. The NMS casuals with less than a million coins were pretty much hosed, and if you weren't exceptional in head-to-head play with the Draft event, you pretty much had to hibernate through Zero Skill.
People were quitting games because they were getting curbstomped by overpowering lineups, often played with extra cheese.
I'm starting to build my own team back up to 94 OVR; I've had plenty of time to work the Auction House since the games were obnoxious. After Campus Heroes II ended up being a quarter of the promo it was expected to be, with no Challenges and no House Rules, I'll have a bit more time for the auction house. Sniped a Renfro at a good price, probably my best moment of the day.
There was a huge divergence in the engagement of users with Zero Skill. There was a big, heavy door with dollar signs painted on it, and if you couldn't afford to get in, you were left out in the cold. I had millions in coins, but with the scheduled nerfing of the abilities, I just didn't feel I had the resources to go all in with the risk of an abrupt crash.

I get what you mean but I play more casual and just hop into games here and there. Have been doing well until this promo. Didn’t help I had stuff to do for Christmas, but in the course of 2 weeks my team went from semi competitive to useless. Sure I got some coins and presents, but a few weapons and defenders doesnt change the fact everyone I play has a fully boosted team consisting of a lot of meta oriented cards with height and speed. Never seen the meta get so much tougher pretty much overnight.
This was the best promo that EA has put out in a while. Zero complaints

Sure if you had plenty of time to sweat or plenty of money to spend. Rapidly progressed it to mid/early endgame in my opinion. Leaving casuals like myself completely in the dust.

Guess I’m in the minority when I enjoy 94/95 stats max especially this time of year lol

I don’t get hung up over max, as it doesn’t really matter. Abilities matter so much more. Give me a 90 overall with great abilities over a 99
"Zero Chill ruined the game for me"
Disagree.
The team Diamond 95's killed the game for a bit. People who had great teams still couldn't compete with the SUPER MEGA GOD SQUADS that had multiple 95's when they where 4-6 mil for each cards. So you saw some drop off in players playing in H2H, and thus facing more of the Teams that where in another class vs any previous MUT releases.
Then Zero Chill came along and had cards that where better that the 95 OVR Team Diamonds, the top end cards where the "Normal" Top End prices. Basically 350k-800k for the new releases and LTDs at 580k-2+M. IMO the Zero Chill cards needed to be OP to make the 95 TD teams not a thing. As the ZC boosts expire and now we are getting the 94 Champions and 95 LTDs, these cards without any special boosts should be competitive vs the 95 TDs and their price will come down to earth, only thing that'll make the cards hold their price is for the 3x Team Chem.
Conclusion, Zero Chill saved MUT.

This^^ so much this, it pains me each and every single time I hear kids discussing "OVR" ratings on cards. Thank you for trying to educate the community.
Abilities are EVERYTHING. That is why Zero Chill saved MUT, there's 90 OVR cards for under 100k coins that are better than every single Golden Ticket from M24. You can field a competitive squad if you just got the game for Xmas on 1 - 1.5M coins... and play against the top tier teams, filled with every Present player.
💯% saved MUT, we finally have a chance on defense. Holy.

I can see your point and I would agree the Team Diamonds are what started the ripple effect. I’m not sure if you are implying it was a mistake by EA or not but I would say it looks intentionally designed to me. In reality regardless of design or not your point that zero chill saved MUT holds merit but I don’t entirely agree.
As you suggested the only way to devalue 95 TD and get users to spend again was to put more value in the new zero chill cards. They choose to accomplish that through two primary means temporary chem boosts and temporary 0 AP abilities. Do any of us believe that was on the fly thinking or content? Considering we’ve seen them do this exact same tactic already this year I don’t believe that for a second.
My point is this while these temporary boosts better encourage cycles of user activity and spending that more consistently last the duration of the games life cycle they may not be good for the long term health of our game. As these are the exact pay to play/win tactics that we see driving people away from our game and causing inconsistencies in user experience for those who remain. Regardless I admit I enjoyed Zero Chill and it seems a lot of people did.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
