Just played someone h2h and he quit after 3 plays... Sack, incompletion, then I picked him off. He seemed pretty upset, called me a cheater and a "hacker" after pausing and looking at my lineup, then told me to go kill myself. I thought it was hilarious but it got me thinking... Is cheating a real thing? How would someone even do that? And what about my lineup would convince him I was a cheater/hacker? Any thoughts?
Its christmas time and you played a 10 year old. Brush it off and move on.
Who even uses a mic online? no reason what so ever. Just shut off their mic and yours, only accept messages from friends.

In the settings of your profile you can turn off any communication from non friends. People cant even send you a friend request, let along have to listen to them.
Your PlayStation profile, not in madden.

Whoa, this is honestly the clever (and mature) thing to do, but I guess i'm a bit of a sadist... i love to listen to my opponent squirm and call me every toxic name they can think of. Hell, I've even had a decent conversation or two with some grown ass men opponents. I'm perpetually twelve years old, it seems. I constantly wish we could engage with cross-team chat in Squads play, some of those games can get pretty lively.
I started busting out my headset for squads play, but for the longest time, i just wanted to plop on the couch after wr0k and vegg out while team building and having a relaxing go at the CPU or whatever... but nothing quite gets the juices flowing liek passing out beatdowns to potty-mouthed teenagers, or twenty-somethings that are indistinguishable from most middle schoolers.
Too bad Snoop Dogg doesn't believe in using a mic online, i would have loved to hear him howl when i forced him to rage-quit on Thanksgiving Eve. Still the highlight of my MUT career, bumping into his "infinite" Snoop skill position players, he had em all over the field, but clearly is just a casual. By the time i found my way to his stream, he had quit and went to play poker. Doubt he'd even remember, but I'm still riding high off this random encounter.

Yeah I'm the same way... I don't usually respond but I do get enjoyment from listening to someone flip out when they're losing. The kid I played sounded like he was in the 20 something middle schooler category you mentioned.

Once in a blue moon I cannot seem to help myself and i inevitably take the bait and get into a little back and forth with the scrubs, but typically i just wait til the end of the game and try to finish with a simple "GG" to try and keep things somewhat civil. But i'm not above the fray. I can be a bit of a child, myself. Someday i'll categorize the range of insults, because they're not very unique, nor creative... after all, many of these are either actual twelve year olds, or perpetually stunted.
- Spending money / pay-to-win, this should be an insult. These bullshit P2W game mechanics have no business in online H2H "competitive" games. Cosmetics, sure, whatever, but not anything that gives an edge.
- Vulgarities, the boring, run of the mill, toxic shit; cursing, n-word, blah blah
- Mom jokes / comments (although these tend to be a bit more rare)
- "You suck" / git gud type slurs
What other categories am i obviously missing here? There's probably not more than 5 or 10, if that. I'm probably being a bit too generous. The Madden community isn't ever going to be accused of shooting rockets to Mars or anything of the sort. There's some heady players out there, theory crafting and scheming up their best attempts at Min/Maxing squads, but that's a rare and beautiful exception. Most dudes just send 6+ blitzers every single down and don't even bother trying to play defense, they just hope to overwhelm you before you can make a quick read. Long gone are the days where I struggled to put up twenty points, now i regularly can and will drop forty if a game goes down to the wire.
Lots of miserable people play this game, it brings out the worst in them. I mute everything all the time, i suggest you do the same.

Calling specific plays and making pre-snap defensive adjustments to glitch out the offensive line's blocking assignments and force artificial A-gap pressures is cheating.
While you can get some glitchy stuff going on rare occasions with certain specific players in certain specific situations, that's probably not what happened here. He may have felt the lineups were mismatched, but that is the MUT experience, and he'll just have to accept that.
