is there consensus for ball in air defense for pics?

I have heard good "online" madden streamers say 

1) spam y/triangle 

2) click just when you want to make the pic 

3) hold the button the whole time

yeah, i was afraid that no one really knew.

I consistently get perfect timing User pic...

You want to switch to the covering receiver when the ball is about halfway through the arc and you want to press and hold the intercept button about a full second or two before the ball is going to be there for shorter passes everything gets abbreviated. Once you get the timing down, you'll understand exactly what I mean

1. You don't want to spam the button.

2. If you have ball hawk setting turned off, you'll want to push the button as you're trying to catch the ball

3. If you have ball hawk setting turned on, you'll want to push the button about a second or so before you're ready to catch the ball

(I personally recommend using ball hawk)
