Linchpin vs protected

What's the difference between linchpin and protected? One says better boxing on the oline and other says better pass protection but I don't really know if there's a difference

Linchpin is run blocking. Protected is pass blocking

To add, Protected has never been a good ability in Madden since it was added. That's why Edge and Secure Protectors are still coveted.

Linchpin, I've been running since 96 Havenstein. Does it work, is it effective? I couldn't tell you, but at 0 AP I'm using it.

Lol na I use linchpin that shit legit but wondering what if I use both or what I'd I use linchpin on 2 oline men

Oh, I'm not saying it isn't. I had it on Andrew Thomas and Havenstein for the longest. Just never have not used it so I'm not sure. Lol.

I'd say try it out and report back, that's my setup but I've got Kelce in the middle too, so the o-line is strong.

Linchpin removes the run block.shed timer

Protected removes the pass blocking degradation timer and helps with blocker logic pre snap but that part of it is useless if your opponent knows how to manipulate the Oline.

Protected is JUST for pass protection, linchpin mainly makes a difference on run blocking. Also protected sucks ass lol and never works.

simple difference, linchpin is for run blocking and protected is for pass blocking.

Protected extends the shed time

Just use all day, if you want that, it’s better

I know it probably doesn't stack but I have linchpin on like 2-3 different lineman. It's solid, it might buy you a sec in the run game. Really no real diff without it. I feel like if I have that on with nasty streak on my Power/mauler OLs 99 RBP they should be taking light linebackers/DBs to the ground more often, especially when they are being controlled by users that aren't really trying shed, just running. Having that on going against a Dollar defense should be an automatic 20+ yards minimum every time no matter if I run to the outside or inside, especially if I'm in big formations with 2OL subbed at TE lol. But this game isn't logical at all
