How do you upgrade 96 champions?

I got Metcalf and it says I need to add in another 96 to unlock extra buckets, even though I have high end item card. Am I missing something?

just like in the SB cards, you have to add a champion card to get the upgrade. Dont get the card back as a BND either. Straight crazy on EA for this

Had to reset Madden but high-end  item works but still wack.
