Played head to head for the first time today since need MF points and I was trying the Mayhem or whatever it’s called. Boy, that was ugly. 
 

Blown out each time. So many interceptions thrown and so many coverage busts when I tried to switch players. Yikes. Thought I might luck into a win or close game. Nope. DBs undercut every pass for INTs. How do you combat that? its insane. So is how quick a DB gets back into a play. 
 

Also, every team was basically a god squad. Thought I had a decent team full of 83-90s, with mostly 88-90 at the key spots. Nope. I couldn’t get any pass rush, run blocks werent holding.

then the onsides kicks and 2-point conversions are incredibly toxic. Especially when I’m getting blown out

Welcome to h2h Madden. Nothing but toxic shit and then you see the words "Positive Play" on the field lmao.

If you want to win, you will have to get schemey. Build yourself a squad that can run block and run the RPOs. If you can learn how to RPO and then pass out of those formations, there's a chance. I went from 3 and 4 wins in CHAMPS to 15 wins by the RPO scheme. On defense, the 3-3-5 man play with a blitzing LB, just user it on the corners and you have a chance. It isn't what people will like to read but it worked for me.

h2h takes practice, especially learning to not throw bad picks, which was/is the biggest issue for  me . the toxicity is wild too.  Also, in that special mode, players are usually slower  so it can throw off timing. 

if you’re getting undercut a lot, your opponent likely is shading underneath and  knows you’re throwing short passes, so try to hit medium routes (posts/corners etc)

Try this one game ..... Run each play until time runs out. Never blitz. Don't stray from d# plan. Try to stay in a base with a model cover 0 flat just to cover the hb in a true 0 flat zone... Punt the ball, and make good decisions. You can totally control someone's game plan. And plain just win by better coaching.  Then from here you can evolve your D# from experience. Coverage changes game plan adjustments ect ... Gl to you...

if you punt in madden you already lost lmao this isnt the NFL
