Randomly get a loss when losing connection in game, but still online?

So, I stopped my opponent hard, he punted to me, then I threw a pick six to start off that was a little uncharacteristic (wrong button) and I was pretty sure from how he started on offense that I still was gonna bag this one and wasn't sweating it. He almost screwed it up celebrating on his way to the end zone and I hit him hard right at the goal line, and he got lucky to fall in. But right after he kicked off to me, it said my connection was experiencing issues, dropped me out of the game, but never actually kicked me out of MUT - went right back to the menu. I never lost connection at all. But it somehow counted as an immediate loss even though I had no chance at all to come back and it was only within a minute or two of game clock. Is this some sort of exploit?

Edit - just noticed, even though the score was 7-0 it's listed as 0-0, but indicated as a loss. Strange.
