I’m confused, if I do a set for a player do I HAVE to get that player in M24? I got a token but why can’t I redeem that for any player

What's confusing about it? One player set completed in 23 = one token for that same player in 24.
If you want a particular player in 24, put in the work and do what you have to do now.

I’m confused as to why that token has to go in that specific set because there’s nothing on the token that states the player. Why can’t I put the token in any player when M24 comes out is what I’m asking?

so you put two 98s in a rookie premiere set, and you receive one 99 rookie player. This player you unlock you will receive the 99 this madden and his rookie card next madden.
this token you also get i believe will be for some sort of master set. unsure if it’s just for madden 23, or just for 24 or if it’s like an ultimate rookie card which youd get at a 90 OVR next madden or something.
i think the token is almost like team diamonds but for rookies
