H2H Logic

So, here how two consecutive H2H games went:

Game 1: I load up against a guy with a god squad. Steve McNair, Patrick Willis, the likes. I've been running my Strong Close formation for a while now, and am starting to get pretty good at it. He can't stop my passing attack, Randy Moss is having an incredible game, and I'm also having success on defense. He eventually quits.

Game 2: Pretty much the same story to begin with. The guy has a god squad, but he can't stop my Strong Close formation any better than the last guy could, and I score on consecutive drives. The problem is, so does he. Tied 14 to 14, I start my third drive fully expecting based on the results of the last two drives to score quickly. Then he comes out in some blitz formation with Mike Vrabel at middle linebacker. Calvin Johnson has beat his man by at least two steps on my now signature WR Out audible curl to streak route combination, but Vrabel ends up coming into the backfield untouched on a user rush and hits Herbert, causing the throw to be incomplete. The second time I choose a play-action play, but make sure to pass block audible Gronk at FB. This time Kyzir White comes off the edge, and both my LT John Madden with SP and Gronk with Vanguard only hold White up for a split second each and Herbert gets sacked. 3rd and 18 and I choose WR Out again, but this time audible Flash to pass block. He's about the same size as Kyzir White and is also in a better position to block him than Gronk was. Kyzir White still gets the hit and causes an incompletion. Fed up, I just decide to go for it and Herbert gets hit again! And then the guy just starts abusing corner routes to Randy Moss every play. It's like the guy just switched from reasonable play to completely toxic glitched plays, or handed the controller off to someone who runs toxic plays. These sort of things really shouldn't work in H2H... it's not real football strategy! I even adjusted by moving Minkah Fitzpatrick into a zone there to help Perry Williams and it STILL didn't work. Keep in mind I'm using 9 AP on my defense to add every route KO to each of my top 3 CBs because I'm tired of my opponents catching everything.

Ikr that would be terrible if EA claimed that Madden was a simulation game. Even funnier if they had the exclusive rights to all simulation football games am I right? Hah!

I thought it was cheese to use X factors.

It is if you abuse it. With the way I play offense now Flash rarely gets the ball, and his X-Factor doesn't seem to do anything insane.

Haha you dont have to explain yourself to me! Play how you want to play!!

it seems your opponent found a weakness and was just exploiting it. I think we have all done the same at some point in time. with corner routes, sometimes you gotta user them when you know it’s coming or set those cloud flat depths to 25 or something.

Super frustrating though, hope Madden gave you some make up wins!

Yeah. It was annoying though, the CPU logic gave Randy Moss about 10 yards a separation on a corner route, and if I went to user that it opened up a post and corner route on the other side too. I'll have to see what plays I can run that fix that, but corner routes have been broken in Madden 23 for way too long

Soooooo it sounds like you will continually run your Strong formation until your opponents quit. This guy has a defensive play that apparently works very well against your Strong formation and he’s supposed to run it once, get a sack, and then go back to letting you score touchdowns?

No, not saying that. I'm saying that the personnel shouldn't have allowed for these easy sacks. I had both Flash and Gronk blocking in the backfield and both let up sacks from edge rushers who had no business getting past the tackles.

I tried changing up my formation as well but Gun formations didn't work either. I had no time in the pocket against an outdated Kyzir White who doesn't even get pass rush abilities.

The Strong Formation isn't meant to make my opponents quit. I'm in no way trying to be toxic and have just found the offensive strategy which works best for me, and have a good number of plays within the formation that I run so it's not like I'm running the same play over and over again.

Which is why I didn't appreciate the toxic play of my opponent who ran the same play over and over again, exploiting CPU coverage logic on offense and CPU blocking logic on defense. Kyzir White doesn't get DON or ET, and so should not have gotten past John Madden with SP and even then should have been picked up by Gronk or Flash

Alright fair point, I can 100% agree that the game doesn’t function how it should and I know how frustrating that can be. I’m on PS4 and have seen a ton of Strong formations lately so I will gladly run the same defensive play against them if it is working. Once they go to a different formation then I will go into a different defense as well.

Unfortunately the blocking has been screwed for at least a couple years now. Certain plays allow edge rushers to get to the QB untouched constantly.

If you can't handle the blitz then this game could be really hard for you.  According to your description i assume he runs something like 4-3. Try to motion block and learn some new route combo. You'll be better.
