Does this work? I hit R1 and never even see the animation. Do you tap, press, what? Seems broken. Like on MVP solo Battles getting a fumble seems like pure chance cause hit sticks and aggressive tackling don't seem to work.

Idk why but it's just a habit now with tackle battles and everything, I always hold down L1 and spam A (I'm on Xbox)

I have the most success if I'm following them or they are being stood up in a pile and gets the ball punched out. Eventho I'm usually the one who fumbles

It seems very RNG-based on my observations. It does help if you hold R1 and you'll get occasional strips but it's pretty rare. I've found that fumbles happen a decent amount when there's gang-tackling going on and you're battling to bring a player down with X (on PlayStation).

Also, Idk if this will help but in order to get the 6 fumbles for the objectives in Solo Battles, I always do 1 or 2 on the lowest difficulty possible to get them out of the way.
