For some reason bo matter what you do on defense someone is open. You can play zone, man, move the safety 8 yards up, go on YouTube and try the things you see there but some how some way a player is wide open. It is frustrating having a good defense and they can't cover. The RB is open on the weak side the TE or slot is open across the middle. The outside corners doesn't pick up the outside player or get beat inside. No one catches the ball. What is going on with this game?

play saftey up 5 yards, runs nickle over quarters, alternate between pressing the corners or “showing cover 3 “ to align all dbs along the sticks/goalline

Really you just have to come out in something they won't expect. For me it tend to be cover 6 or cover 9. I'll get an occasional pick. Or load up on D line abilities and not rely on coverage as much

Yeah im to the point im just gonna go back to extreme pressure. If your opponent is decent they will pass all the way down the field easily. I suck at passing and even im looking like Tom Brady out there right now.
Switch sticking and baiting are about the only ways I get turnovers. The Ai now seems terrible, its all up to the person you're controlling against the entire offense.

You need to know why the player is wide open, and the answer is, Glitchy defensive AI. It doesn't help to have reaction and knockout abilities if your coverage has put your personnel in the wrong zip code despite correctly anticipating exactly what your opponent is running.
Most of the offensive meta plays have two or three reads. If you're not pressing and don't have leverage, one may be an almost instantaneous throw to a receiver on a streak. That one's covered? No problem. You can look to the crosser and see if the defensive user takes the defender for that zone out of the play. If the defense made all of the correct guesses and moves so far, the quarterback probably rolls out and throws an improvised comebacker to a receiver using Playmaker.
Pressure is the way to go. Because the offensive approach can be so fundamentally and reliably formulaic, the only way you can get a pick against the guys versed in abusing the AI with broken plays and some of the most brutal non-call receiver picks is to guess right multiple times, and hope that you snare a pick off a quarterback hit or quarterback pressure. Even then, the ball could wobble harmlessly to where there's no one to catch it, or your defender just might not animate because RNG.
But the reason you can't defend is because the code is being routinely exploited by your opponents. It's regrettable.

Defense is prob the worst it’s ever been. I assume EA wants it like that so people feel like they’re good at the game and keep playing. Crazy that offense is so easy yet 6 months later 90% of the player base is still terrified to call a play other then gun bunch x nasty. I have success switching between different man and zone looks out of the same shell to catch my opponent off guard throwing to a guy they thought would be open or holding onto the ball too long because that guy they thought would be open is covered

I agree with OP. Something changed from yesterday to today. My corners are getting torched and they are 99s with great speed and the legendary man coverage strat item. I’m getting more user picks, but Carmichael was torching Mel Blount 99 on go routes all night in a game on a non-theme team. I also started torching guys when I was on O. It would be nice if they released patch/update notes but they don’t give a fuck about any of us, only our wallets.

After running thru 11 event games tonight, it feels like pass coverage got slightly nerfed after today’s update. Cant confirm but that’s my personal experience.

Zero reason for Carmichael to toast Mel Blount on a Steelers TT with Crystal Saquan boosts on a go route without press coverage and shaded over the top in cover 1 robber. But it happened all game long. And in my other games (7 total) they were absolute shootouts with neither side making any deep stops and very few contested catches. The other thing I’m noticing way more than normal is th complete inability to play the ball in the air when I switch stick onto a player. It has happened quite a bit all season but last night was worse than normal. I accept this is anecdotal and only my experience, but when I see others noticing a change at the same time as me it makes you wonder.
There are circumstances where you go for the swat, and circumstances where you go for the pick. Personnel matchups may affect the decision tree (like having a shorter defender trying to sky for the catch), but there are some situations where you must go for the pick. Apart from times my user didn't animate for a pick, I've had so many cases where a CPU defender and my user had a targeted receiver bracketed, and when my user did animate for the pick, the CPU defender swatted the ball away. When potentially game-winning earned turnovers are denied by stupid AI and the opponent continues to march down the field on their way to an as-time-expires game-winning field goal, it makes me question what "logic" went into the programming, as well as the decision to remove "Plays Ball: Aggressively".

I agree with those saying something feels like it was adjusted with the update. Two days prior to the update I finally decided to grind Ranked to get to Champ level, I got to 25-5 and my defense was reacting pretty great most of the time in their zones. After the update it has been pretty noticeable how my defense rarely reacts in their zones and everything is wide open. I didn’t change my lineup or scheme at all. Gonzales CB was playing better than anyone in my secondary before the update and now I haven’t seen him do anything.
For reference I’m at 37-12 now in Ranked so I guess I played 30 ranked games before the update and 19 games after the update all within 3-4 days and defense feels very different.
Also to note since the update I feel like the only stops my opponents have been able to get are when I make a terrible read and throw a pick and even that has been pretty rare. It’s pretty much been whoever has the last possession (or most possessions) gets the W. And I’m not an elite passer in this game, I’ve always been much better at defense than offense in general but offense just seems too easy right now.
