Because EA doesn't care about which players they drop in which promos. They're trying to fill rosters, but gave up on trying to make it make sense.

I agree with OP. Rising is the present participle of the verb rise, therefore Lem Barney should not have gotten a Rising Star card. Proper English would require him to have received a Risen Star card.

To be fair, he was the OG "Rising Star" considering he was the league's first Defensive Rookie Of the Year. Plus, I run a partial Lions Theme Team, so I'm okay with this.

Because he is a rising star at bingo. Or maybe because he rises out of his bed. I just didn’t want a purple dinosaur to get a good card I agree
