I always run on the first play and want to get my run game working well when beginning a game of H2H. Kind of a West Coast offense in that i try to use short safer passing plays but this year passing has been alot easier so ive been passing the ball more often this year. As a slightly above average madden player I want to run the ball efficiently and minimize my chances of making a mistake aka interceptions. When my run game is shut down then im not as successful and when playing from behind where I have to pass I can struggle in high scoring games. Controlling the clock, running the ball and no turnovers is what I want to do every game. For defense I definitely want to shut down my opponents run and make them make mistakes. Alot of players are pass heavy and it can be difficult on defense. Seems like defense is a little soft so far this uear. Dealing with jump balls and how coverage easily breaks down the longer the play is can be frustrating. Dealing with players that are run heavy can be especially frustrating as they try to run on every play but its a good feeling to get the victory against players like that. I'm on old gen and I like how the game plays but passing defense seems more soft this year.
I run a college style spread option game. Mainly use a split back, spread, tight and a couple of 3x1 formations and empty. Like to throw in speed options, shovel option, power option and screens. Aswell as a lot of mesh and quick short routes. When it works it’s hella fun. Sometimes I get shut down but I refuse to use anything meta.
