Ultimate Champion Speculation

Over the last 5-ish years the Madden team has devoted the MUT Master/Ultimate Champion role to a former NFL player that has gone through some life-altering/tragic event.

The player chosen to become MUT Master has shifted over the past few years. 4+ years ago the MUT Master was typically the same player as the cover athlete. However more recently, we’ve taken the opportunity to use MUT Master as a way to pay tribute to some incredible players and stories that go beyond the sport of football.

Over the year we’ve had:

• Sean Taylor
• Ryan Shazier
• Pat Tillman
• Sam Mills
• Kam Chancellor

Alternating the Linebacker/Safety position, it’s back to Linebacker if the trend continues. Now I was looking back over former greats who could fill this role and realized Derrick Thomas’ life was cut tragically short due to a car accident in a winter storm decades ago.

Anyone else have guesses to who we could be seeing for Madden 23’s choice?

Is it just LBs and Safeties? Or could it possibly be other positions?

It could be any. The trend has been Linebackers and Safeties lately, but it is certainly not restricted to that until it’s officially announced here in a week or 2.

I know most of the last few years the “level” master has been strictly Wide Receivers and Halfbacks w/ LaDainian Tomlinson and Ricky Williams recently.

The Madden team can certainly throw a wrench in the equation and give us a different position though for one or both.

Demaryius Thomas would be a good tribute card to get , a little bit late but still good
