How many of you are just going to stay on this year's Madden. From now on I'm just gonna get the new Madden when it's free to play on EA. Clearly I'm still playing but they have really pushed the game to pay to play. I love the content and promos but it's like unless you're swiping a credit card you're excluded from it. I mean I don't have 4 million coins for Stefon Diggs or some of these guys so the promos have kinda turned into like oh that's cool but I cant really look forward to it.

This is the correct reaction. EA has demonstrated that they don't care about putting out a quality football simulation game, it's packs sales above ALL else. We get it, it's a for-profit business, but unless you have a high threshold for pain, there's just not much to do and it's difficult to compete at a high level, ESPECIALLY this time of year when cards with abilities (including passive X-factors) that run this entire game.

Yeah they've kinda squeezed your casuals out it feels. Last year I didn't even get to play with Kam Chancellor because I think he was like 5-7 million for 2-3 months. Idk i just remember he was absolutely OP and I love Bam Bam but I was like ok...no Kam for me I guess
This is exactly what I will be doing...I have no problem with spending money (I have certainly done so myself), but...it is no longer worth it to me. There are not enough meaningful solos and playing online is just a rinse and repeat. So my plan is to stay with this one and either switch to franchise or just mess around online trying out new things until the new version is free...then the solos should be enough to maybe make the game enjoyable (I actually doubt it...but maybe). Unfortunate as I used to enjoy almost all aspects of this mode.

I actually did this I think on Madden 22 whatever one was Mahomes/Brady and you can still play online but it's not ultra sweats every match it was fun AF

Pay to win has absolutely no business being part of any online, H2H, competitive games -- at least not ones that are hopefully fun, fair and balanced... and did i mention, COMPETITIVE? Bleh.
Fortnite has a fantastic business model, they sell TONS of premium content. To this very day, we still cannot even buy any custom or non-standard uniforms. Unless you were lucky enough to be part of Season 1-2? and got a single uniform (Home or Away, not both) for your favorite team. I'd pay $25 right now for some nice 49ers uniforms. I'm sure there's THOUSANDS of people who would gladly do the same.
Nope, EA will continue catering to the small 5-10% (or less) of people who spend 70-80% of funds on this game. It's going to get worse before it gets any better. Our only hope is that AI tools will enable small teams of people to create their own AAA equivalent video games in the not too distant future.

Yeah that would be great if there was some competition. I agree with the pay to win. I got some Roster Revolution players but then realized I can't get the small amount of discounted abilities because you have to buy a pack in the store for the other 3 tokens. That's literally the definition of Pay to Win... I was just like ok cool lol
Yeah, at this point it's looking like it'll be my last year playing. With the game pushing more towards pay to win and EA not patching obvious flaws in the way the game was coded all year, it just doesn't seem like they care too much.

Well I'm not paying for it lol, I haven't bought a pack since 21 lol

I have been NMS for a few years with good success. You just need to know how to work the market . It IS a grind though

Yeah I've been good I win about 16 games in champs a week on average. I'm not trash. I'm more just saying there's less of a reason to jump on the new one when half the promos you can't really participate in. My whole thing for MUT has been like the excitement of seeing the new promos or cards but now it's like well I can't afford them so no need to stay to to date. I'll just keep balling with my team this year.

I've joined Madden season late (December or later) 4+ times in the past and and 100% am doing so again this year. Jumping into the game in January (EA Play is free first week of Feb) gave me the following benefits:
- I bypassed 2-3 months of frustration. (i.e. QBs not hitting thresholds and making horrific throws)
- Apparently, 90 Andrew Luck (Released 10/22/24) was the first QB to hit all passing thresholds this year
- It wasn't until mid-late November that he would be affordable for most players (<250-300k)
- Only took me a week to go from 0 to 90 overall (Most H2H Players were 92-94 in Feb)
- Community had already done the heavy lifting on identifying the best playbooks (All I had to do was search to narrow it down)
- The big playbook patch was already in place, so no need to switch/relearn playbooks mid-season
- I didn't spend $69 on the game
If you don't want to wait until February, you can always buy it on sale for $45 (mid-October) or $35 (late-November) or $28 (Mid-December). For me it's not about the money, but more so not wanting to positively reinforce EA's football monopoly and lack of gameplay improvement. But yeah, there's not a lot of benefits to buying this game in August every year, in my opinion.
Not a bad idea. This game is getting more ridiculous each year. I’m convinced EA has algorithms that regularly cheat users and entice more spending. It seems to be worse after you start spending a little money.
