I was looking at some budget cards and I found 90 jc lathom who has amazing stats but a 72 awareness
It used to be important on the center but idk anymore. I try to have high awareness on my Oline
I think some dude on reddit explained it a couple years ago.
From what I remember it’s pretty important for blocking. I try to get high AWR line and RB/FB. If all else is equal I’m taking the higher AWR.

Madden codes to have the entire line adopt the centers awareness rating, which helps with shift logic etc. Which is why Saturday is the best imo you can cheese his awareness with 2 additional awareness points by the stocking stuffer boost. Unfortunately I won Travis F free in a 1 coiner so I felt compelled to switch
Very important on a C. Boosts your o-line somehow I forget. Only QB after that for abilities

I thought that at one time, too, that each O lineman essentially gets the center’s AWR rating. But read more recently— maybe here — about some other calculation that occurs. Could have been the particular lineman‘s rating is an average of its rating and the center’s, but the center’s is counted twice.
It matters? I have guys with high awareness that continue to run winds sprints toward my opponent’s end zone rather than engage with linebackers or defensive backs that clearly ought to be blocked for the sake of the ball carrier.
Of course, it matters if the rest of the coding actually worked as it should. If your base coding is bad, algorithms aren’t going to fix anything.
i have foubd its important on pullers and down blocks. I have 93 ovr poe FB and he ocasionally just runs by someone he should block

Correction, Travis F gets 2 point SP. I have all day on my LG and rg. Trenches dominate imo

Awareness (AWR): How quickly a player will react to his surroundings. With higher awareness ratings, blockers will set-up and react to blocking lanes better, wide receivers will look for the ball faster on routes, defenders will react to the ball faster in the air for zone and man coverage, while defensive lineman will react to run plays and slip screens faster.
