How to activate Cushing's momentum shift later in the game.

Originally wanted to run him as a starter, but now after learning how momentum shifts i know he has to be subbed out for the first play and then back in order to activiate. 

My question is related to how to reactivate it later in the game. Do I have to sub him back out for one play, or multiple plays, or does it work differently then that? Basically how long does it take for his momentum shift to "recharge" ?

is ability based on his real life where he would come off field after a whiff on a play and would comeback in a non-specific “rage” to make an impact play?
