Can someone explain icing the kicker.

My opponent had the ball lined up at my 20. He called a fg and I called timeout.  Next play he spikes the ball. Comes out in fg again and his kicker is not iced and he makes the fg. This was when it was 8 seconds left. Few games later I'm in the same situation but when I spike the ball after my opponents timeout, my kicker comes out iced. Difference is it was 23 seconds left.  How come I was iced and my opponent wasn't? Also his kicker was boswell

I don't think you can ice the kicker anymore in MUT. 

With the new kicking mechanics, the meter stays the entire time.  Anytime anyone has tried to ice me, it has never worked and make the FG with ease.

only works if its a game winning field goal at the end of the game, its sad that its like that

ice is weak this year, only on a last second game winner like mentioned. even then the bar stays, and ability still works with cam little. no issues.
