At a certain point it's personal preference. Use whatever makes the most sense for YOU. Personally, i am still on fEagles for offense and Multiple D / 46 playbooks on defense... although i also have both Chiefs and Ravens that i tinker with from time to time.

What formations do you prefer to play? I typically run Dime for run defense and Dollar for passing situations. There's a lot of viable playbooks. Start with a scheme, match your abilities (KOs, KOs, KOs) with the preferred scheme, THEN use that knowledge to influence your playbook decisions. Not all playbooks will have the formations you want. Specifically for Dollar, i find that Multiple D & 46 playbooks tend to have the best offerings, however YMMV.

LOTS of folks run 4-3 Even 6-1 which is fairly consistent, not terribly difficult to set up and works quite well in both run and pass game, with the only requirement that you have three linebackers all with (preferrably) 0AP LurkArtist abilities, then hopefully a few Zone KOs on your DBs to round things out. This is not the only way or theory to craft defense. Some folks will tell you to load up on D-line / pass rush abilities, however i find that I'm able to consistently generate A-gap pressure without needing abilities, so my personal preference is to remain with mostly Zone KOs, all the way around my defense.
