How do you think EA did in their “make or break year” ?

I was bashing the game at first, but now I’m leaning towards EA actually did a good job this year. Of course the pay2win formula is always going to suck especially if you come from my era of video games (80’s baby), but that’s just the nature of micro transactions. We can’t do anything about that. Other than that  list one thing you like and one thing you dislike with this years madden. For me…

Good: I like the ability point changes. I don’t think abilities should determine a game or be so cheap. last year everyone had 2 no outsiders, 2 inside stuffs, and either KO’s everywhere (zone guys) or inside shades/route KO’s(man guys).  

Bad: Lack or useable cards for theme team players. A lot of teams have major holes everywhere that make their favorite teams unuseable.

Good point... I have seen a lot complaints about pack odds. I don’t really open packs. My pack luck sucks every year.

Well, I started the year with a team full of 84 overall rookies, and in January 2024, I just got two Campus Heroes packs where I could pick the 82 of my choice, so...

broken, personally I've probably been better at madden than I've ever been so gameplay has been fine. It's the repeat BND cards, the underwhelming content. The cover athlete promo sucked, akas should literally go all year, it's 2 cards. every damn player in the nfl and their mother have a nickname. The menus are still buggy, I get kicked from mut constantly while doing sets. My wins didn't track for a month, they nerfed snow. You can no longer buy strat cards or playbooks. There are so many safeguards in place to keep people from making money off their game. We still get glitches that 5% of people profit off of but they patch them in 15 minutes, meanwhile other issues take them weeks to fix.

This^^. EA rarely ever did something in the best interest of their consumers (us). Everything was centered around how much money they could make this year. Plain and simple

as someone who skipped last years madden because i was sick of the game getting worse and worse, who decided to give it one last chance because i heard it was the "make or break" year. 

Yeah i am done with this shit. The only thing that had kept the game alive for me after madden 17 was the introductions of theme teams and they even ruined those IMO. I want to be able to play with a blend of good modern and old players but they release such little content that it's ridiculous.

Like there used to be a road to the playoffs promo that used to have like a hundreds if i remember correctly close to a thousand new cards in at once and now it seems like we are lucky to get like a thousand   cards period. The game sucks

I keep seeing people bring up the make or break thing, and while MUT shouldn’t be immune from criticism, the fact is EA never said it was a make or break year for MUT, they said it about MADDEN. Madden is way more than just MUT, I’d assume the majority of madden players don’t even play MUT. My understanding is that gameplay improved in general, and a lot of updates and QOL things were done for franchise mode, which seemed to be a big focus of that make/break comment, I think EA would probably consider things more of a make than a break at this point. I don’t think I’ve seen many complaints that can be applied to Madden in general, and while I wish MUT was in a different place, it shouldn’t be conflated with Madden as a whole.

Never thought of it like that. I have not played franchise in a while. Good points.

Can only speak for MUT. Gameplay is horrible and content has been mediocre. Communication, while possibly better than other years, is still crap.

The "make or break" comment from EA was tied to a statement saying they would be "closely monitoring the sales of Madden 24", so when you factor in that we can't really see MUT revenue, we have no idea if they are satisfied with the metric they set for themselves.

I think the biggest, addressable issues: 
- Outdated engine with the slowest, worst performing menus, seriously PS1 games can load faster between screens, and this is me talking about XBX, I really feel for last gen users
- We should have about 3x the number of cards we have. We should not face the same 1-2 teams/players all the time. It's not hard to just make cards and players, so this is where I will say they are super lazy, and it makes me wonder why the team doesn't care more about football and the community. Just having more card options would be enough for a lot of us to be happy. Why do I have to have THIS ONE GUY to get the chem I need or feel like I have a position covered? I kind of wish chem would just go away altogether and we'd just get way more cards.

I with you all on EA’s greed, but can they really give us good offers, coin methods, and pack odds ? I think that why they nerfed odds. Hear me out on this  

1.) community has no integrity anything they give us will be exploited or

2.) Every YouTuber will blast methods, good packs, etc… for clicks/views would that not kill the value of anything they give for free anyway, right  ?
