this new mode with an ovr limit is so dumb bc you can just sub in backups

they should limit the # of cards you can have above OVR 85 or something on the entire roster.  i can make a 65 ovr roster with 87 and 88 backups at just about every position and just sub them all in when game starts.

the devs are really dumb sometimes

Should have just made it salary cap, you’re right

Literally FIFA, a game developed in the same building as Madden, has been doing this concept successfully for years and Madden can’t figure it out 😂

MLB the show has this figured out, it’s not rocket science

You can't have a 65 ovr because no silver cards allowed. Also you can only have a max of 10 gold cards in your line up

I guess this new mode was an epic fail already haha

you can put players at wrong positions to create messed up OVRs and get to 65 easily, ie kicker at qb

Oh, and a question. Couldn't you just pause the game and go in the depth chart to sub your best players in? Rather than subbing at every formation before your play calls...

Of course.  And all you need is a 70 OVR Kicker subbed in for QB1 and 70 OVR FB subbed in for HB1 and voila... you've tanked an 87 OVR team down to an 81 OVR.  My guess is this is why they delayed the program.  Someone at EA figured it out (just a little late).

Haha yeah this kinda stuff doesn't do them any favors when it comes to their image of looking like they're on top of things. This is way too easy to figure out for everyone and then someone like me who legitimately likes to play unconventional, fair, realistic starts reading this thinking oh, so it's exploit this or be exploited and never win. So I have to do it too if I want to participate or the potential rewards (and I do - I happen to use a lot of 2 TE personnel). Oh well, it is what it is

I was looking forward to this but if this is what people are doing, fuck that. Not wasting my time. I thought it was like a salary cap event but it's obvious EA messed up again.

I give them credit for trying but it was easy to work around.  I was going to try to just roll out with my 50/50 bills theme team (which was an 82 naturally) and maybe just move some pieces around.  But with you only being able to have 10 golds it kinda makes you have to cheat the system.

Basically all my LTs and LGs were at RT and RG.  My linebackers flipped sides, ends flipped sides.  Oh and my kicker played one fantastic snap at QB during my 3 game win streak then I quit.

It was crazy seeing so many 88s running around in this mode

Wow that would have been way easier than what I did.  I’m not quite sure why they put a limit on golds you could have.  If anything you should have had golds required

9:10pm EST here and STILL cannot play the new showdown mode. I have met the requirements and it just says the event is not available. Yet I see Darren waller all over the auction house. Wtf.
