Looking for help with best effiient AP usuage overall

Your QB should have 5 on them, Quad has 3. Line has 4. Use free abilites.

You have an extremely high end team.  Couple highlights i'd draw your attention to -- perhaps consider adding the new Maniac (LOLB), which gets all 32 team chems and would make a fantastic bookend to your Milk Man, that's the path i've recently been trying.  Broke my heart to remove Bosa & Haley as pass rushers, but ETE + DoN simply wasn't generating the amount of pressures that it once was, now that everyone is basically running some form of Secure / Edge Protector.

As far as your specific question, i think you're basically approaching things correctly.  The bulk of ability points should be invested in defensive backs, without some type of KO on both corners and safeties, we're gonna keep getting cooked.  In games lately, it's basically a contest to see which abilities trigger, versus which have potential to override or cancel out the others.  For most of my short MUT career i'd been exclusively focused on various stats, primarily speed.  I knew abilities were important, but didn't quite realize just how truly important they are.  To say that abilities are everything, sure is a bit hyperbole, but it's honestly not that far off the mark.  I'm running 1 AP Milk Man, 1 AP Maniac, both for those sweet X-factor, the rest of the 10 points went into DBs.  EVERY single DB needs to have 0AP Pick Artist, combined with a KO ability that matches where on the field they'll be playing.  For example, my primary corners get both Flat Zone KO & Deep Zone KO (for 1AP, plus the 0AP Pick Artist).  In a perfect world, Safeties would have both Deep and Mid Zone KO, but i've run out of AP.  I was SUPER pumped about a Hufanga upgrade for 49ers TT, sadly he doesn't get 0AP Pick Artist, so he's basically unusable IMO.  YMMV, but keep up the great work.  Hope you're having half as much fun as i am, please keep us posted on your progress.

Feel free to refer to my post to take some inspiration, or see how i've decided to approach things... with a running commentary on how the lineup has evolved over the past ~month, or so... lots to learn, try and tinker with, but having a blast.

I didn't really address your offense much, for fear of running out of space, but again, because i've been primarily laser-focused on improving my defense, as i was getting cooked SO much and demoted multiple times from H2H online play.

Carmichael is pretty great, but i'd probably swap him and JJettas around, as 1 and 2, but that's just mild personal preference.  Don't listen to me, i'm terrible at the passing game, easily the worst aspect of my MUT knowledge.  Pretty crucial thing to be terrible at, but makes for a bunch of 10-7 games.  I honestly just got sick of the Quadfather cheese, felt liek i was stooping to the level of the opponents and 3AP was steep cost for a non-QB player.  These days, to help provide a few extra crucial seconds in the passing game, i'm running Secure Protector on basically all of my O-linemen, with the exception of Charles Haley, because it costs him 2AP.  The rest of the O-line all get 1 AP Secure Protector and thus far (after just a single evening), i'm thrilled to have re-invested those points.  It's the polar opposite of defensive side of the ball, but that's how and where my efforts have been focused of late.

Only other pro-tip i could advise, i managed to find players (such as Gronk and Joe Perry) who have dual team chems.  Not sure if that works the same way with Legends, however i would highly encourage you to check out your favorite theme team and see if you can make that work for you -- the stat bonuses feel massive and there's a lot of content from EA dropping recently that seems to suggest or promote that the focus is shifting, away from 40/40 Legends meta to 50/50 theme teams.  YMMV.  I'm a die-hard 49ers fanboi, so i was fully prepared to gimp myself in order to keep things fun and interesting for myself.  Do what works for YOU!

But gosh, this community is fantastic, eh?  They've taught me so much here.  Thanks for being part of that by sharing wonderful, well-written content and asking great questions.  Nothing more frustrating than trying to "help" someone who cannot even be bothered to write up some background or basic goals on the post...

Here's what I would change

QB: Mahomes - Run N Gun X-Factor, Free Gunslinger, Fearless, HRM, PLE for 6 AP total.

WR: Edelman - I'd throw Slot-O-Matic on him instead of Short In Elite for 0 AP.

Defense - 

DB's: Depends on your scheme on whether you should have Deep Out Zone KO + Pick Artist or Man Route KO's. Unless you really like the Universal Coverage on Showcase, I'd take it off and use that 1 AP on your DB's for another KO.

Disregard anything I said about theme teams. That new FA Strategy card gives everyone +1 speed, basically negating the need for theme teams. So many players can get at or near 99 Speed now that it's no longer much of an advantage.

I take zero credit, I saw it posted on Twitter, just wanted to spread the good word. That Superbowl strategy item was nice, but this WAY better. Doubt I'll change it anytime soon.

Thanks you kindly! And don't forget to upgrade your "Journeyman"  FA Strategy item (I did), in addition to the great stat bonuses (+1 SPD & +1 ACC) we also get team chems for those of us still hanging on, of holding out hope.

A bit of a double edged sword, since everyone gets speed boost, it makes theme teams less advantageous. Oh well. Still rocking 49ers 50/50 TT.
