Question about WR4

So not trying to flex or nothin like that but my receiving core is str8 flames 🔥

so as you can imagine since we have been flooded by WR cards it has eventually come to the point to where I am having a hard time choosing who gets to be on the field at all times. I run a run and gun style offense with a little bit more gunnnin than runnin lol.   

so my WR-1 is Herman Moore

WR-2 Ceedee Lamb

WR-3 Marvin Harrison. 
my slot specialist is ceedee.   

now WR-4…is a card that has been clutch for me since I got it. mike Williams. But no matter what formation I choose h’s never on the field.. Why is my running back out there in an empty backfield “5WR set” instead of my #4 receiver?

although it's called 5 wide, it just means that there are 5 players wide not necessarily wide receivers, it's based on the personnel

only certain 5 wide formations have 4 wrs and 1 TE and I don't think there are any 5 wr sets but you will have to sub in a wr for the rb or te

Ok so I’ll have to manually sub a 4th actual WR.  which I’m not gonna do, doesn’t seem practical. 

would it be a safe assumption that (3) WRs is all you need to invest in? Top 3 (excluding TE)

Could still have a nice 4th wr just for fatigue reasons to sub in but other than that no real reason

I got DK, Steve smith and Ceedee, then sub in Thielen with free short out against press man guys.

I always wondered why madden doesn't let every team have some 4wr formations and plays. Why do I want my rb out there instead of a big tall WR unless I plan on audibling down I guess. Some team playbooks have 4 wr formations but most do not. I don't know why every team doesn't have 4 wr plays in Madden but they should.

Just replace your players in what formation you want them in from the play call screen.

I keep Waddle at WR4 for short out for 0ap it’s nice to have for the man press guys

On most empty formations most will be 11 personnel: 1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR. In sets with a RB on the field, you can only sub in a backup RB or FB for them. I don’t believe any 5 WR sets in the game, but some playbooks definitely have 4 WR sets, but I’m not sure of the exact formations.
